Abstract Three Crosses
I originally was going to copy my smaller Three Crosses painting onto a larger canvas for our living room. I ended up changing the background totally and I am very pleased with the results. Between using the texture medium, and priming, and painting, painting, and more painting, this one took me a while to finish. But, I was just working on it about one time per week. I also ran out of a lot of paint! I am so glad that it is finished and that I like the end result!

Working on Over-The-Couch painting
This is the large version of the smaller "Three Crosses". I have done the textured crosses and am now going back and adding primer to the background. The primer is suppose to make the paint go further, and I could really use that help on this size canvas (I think its 20x30 or 30x40) I am debating whether to keep the background just like my original (it had the 3 background colors of mustard, red, and green separated) or do something totally different for the background (like turquoise and red??) Any thoughts??

Painting wood furniture
I am working on "antiquing" this mirror/shelf that I bought a long time ago on clearance for $7. The regular price was $120! I forgot to take a before picture, but will post pics as soon as I'm done. I tried crackle paint for the first time (probably should have practiced first) and am now getting ready to sand it some more and add an antique wash. All of this done with items from around the house makes it even better!
...ok, so here is the finished project, not sure how durable this paint is, as some of it starting wiping off when I dusted with a wet rag! Probably because I painted on top of semi-gloss without a primer. But, I think it will do for now. Just glad to have it finally out of the garage! Have to talk John into hanging it later!
Steps:
1) Sanded down dark color pressboard
2) Applied about 10 coats of white paint!
3) Applied crackle medium
4) Painted over with green acrylic paint
5) Sanded some more
6) Applied antique wash made of brown and gold paint mixed with water
7) Sprayed with gloss coating
8) Ask John to hang it...

Did I mention I can't decide on a background??
If you notice the background changing before your eyes..it probably is! I can't find "just the right one" and am playing around with different ones.

Old hobby gets a makeover..
I have always enjoyed painting and artwork, but have never pursued it as more than an occasional hobby. I recently started painting more often and due to the positive response from others, decided to create a blog to showcase my artwork. I will also be selling it and taking custom orders. Since I am just starting out at this, I am trying to build a portfolio of pictures and new projects. Right now I am focusing on painting acrylic on canvas. If you are interested in ordering a painting or have any ideas/feedback let me know.
